What is an "Chancenkarte" or Opportunity Card ?

Germany is intensifying its efforts to get highly qualified professionals from outside the EU. To make it simpler for foreign people to work in Germany, the nation is modifying its immigration laws.

The "Chancenkarte" or Opportunity Card, is a project of the current German government to partially re-regulate the immigration of workers to Germany. The outline of the concept became known at the beginning of September 2022 and is currently being prepared as a law.

If you are an international professional looking to migrate to Germany but are having trouble finding a job from abroad, the points-based opportunity card could be the solution for you.

To qualify for the opportunity card, you must meet certain criteria and reach enough points. Criteria for the Opportunity Card:

✅ [Qualification]: A university degree, vocational training, or a professional qualification is a must. The degree should be from an officially recognized institute in Germany. If not, the degree credits will have to be converted to the german standard.

✅ [Experience]: Minimum 3 years of professional experience for any job being applied to.

✅ [Language]: Either German language or previous residency in Germany is required.

✅[Age]: The age should be 35 years or younger.

It is important to note that each year, there will be a fixed quota for the number of workers required in particular industries.

We believe, that the opportunity card is a great initiative by the German government. It will not only allow the skilled workers to expand their current abilities but also help in advancing their careers in Germany.

So, let’s wait and watch how this bill goes through the various stages of approval and when it becomes available to millions of talented jobseekers.
